evening and weekend gp services this is a new initiative across somerset whereby patients can make appointments at extended times (up until 8pm at night monday-friday and on saturday mornings) at other practices across the local area. practices working together to deliver extended access to appointments are listed on the poster below. appointment types will vary, some being face to face and some on the 'phone and there will be a mixture of pre-bookable and same day appointments available across the week. they may be with a doctor but could also be with another healthcare professional such as a primary care practitioner or a nurse. we are keen to balance the importance of continuity of care with convenient access for patients whilst ensuring that the service is safe. to book an evening or weekend appointment please contact your registered practice during normal opening times, this will help us to signpost you to the most appropriate option for your particular problem. by contacting us we can fully explain the process, ensure that the booking is appropriate (as we hope to be able to meet your needs by offering an appointment with your usual gp) and cover all the relevant information (and consent) that we need to before we book an appointment for you. further information is shown below. improved access poster improved access faqs somerset wellbeing website this new website www.tauntonwellbeingzone.org provides links to local and national support groups for a wide range of conditions. access the sitevia the above link or through the advice tab in the website home page, which also gives links to other services which may be useful. improved access scheme - from july 2017 from 1st july 2017 patients can book routine appointments until 8.00pm each weekday, and on saturday morning. these routine appointments will be at a gp practice within the taunton deane area, as practices will be open on a rotational basis to see each other's patients. luson surgery will open on monday and thursday evenings. all appointments are by prior arrangement, and no walk-in service will be available. patients without an appointment who require medical assistance can still call 111. evening appointments from 1st june 2017, the practice will be offering late appointments for those patients who find it difficult to come to the surgery during out normal working hours. pre-booked appointments will be available with a gp from 6.30pm until 8.00pm on monday and thursday evenings. these will be for routine appointments only, and all urgent treatment required during these extended hours will still be dealt with by the out of hours service. the surgery telephone lines will not be manned, and no services will be available from reception during 6.30-8.00pm. dr theresa foxton joining the practice dr janes left the practice at the end of february, and has now been replaced by dr theresa foxton. dr foxton will take over the majority of dr janes patient list. any patients moved to another gp have receive a letter advising them. dr foxton will work all day on tuesday and thursday, and friday mornings. on-line access -
